Our Fees

Family mediation is almost always quicker and cheaper than going to court. Our fees are simple, transparent and fixed. Many families qualify for a £500 government voucher towards the cost.

Our Family Mediation Fees

MIAM (your first meeting)

• £130 — within office hours (Monday to Friday, 9.00am–5.00pm)
• £150 — Saturday morning (9.00am–1.00pm)

There are no hidden administration fees. The MIAM is your individual first meeting with the mediator and you can read more about what happens at a MIAM.

Mediation sessions

• £130 per person, per hour, within office hours (Monday to Friday, 9.00am–5.30pm)

Sessions are usually booked for 1.5 hours, which allows enough time for meaningful discussion without becoming tiring. For sessions outside office hours, please call for details.

Drafting documents

• £130 — a Memorandum of Understanding or an Open Financial Statement (fee split between both participants)
• £180 — both documents (fee split between both participants)

These optional documents record what you have agreed and the financial disclosure made during mediation. Your mediator will explain whether you need them.

The £500 Family Mediation Voucher Scheme

The Family Mediation Voucher Scheme is a government-funded contribution of up to £500 towards the cost of your mediation sessions. In March 2026 the Ministry of Justice extended the scheme, backed by an additional £7 million in funding, through to March 2027, so it is available now.

A few important points:

• It is not means-tested. Eligibility is based on the type of case, not your income.
• Your case must involve child arrangements, or a financial matter connected to a dispute about a child. Cases that are purely about property or finances are not eligible.
• It is a one-off contribution per family or case, paid directly to your mediator. You will not receive a physical voucher and do not need to apply yourself.
• It does not cover the MIAM fee. The voucher contributes towards mediation sessions only.

At your MIAM, your mediator will check whether your case is eligible and handle the application for you. If you think the voucher may apply to you, get in touch. Vouchers are limited in number, so it is worth acting early.

Contested court proceedings can run into thousands of pounds in legal fees and take many months to resolve. Mediation typically resolves matters in a small number of sessions, with fixed and predictable costs, far less stress, and outcomes you shape yourselves rather than have imposed by a judge. For most families, it is the most cost-effective way to reach a lasting agreement.

How much does family mediation cost in total?

It depends on how many sessions you need, but most families complete mediation in a small number of 1.5-hour sessions at £130 per person, per hour, plus the £130 MIAM fee. The £500 voucher can cover a significant part of the session costs for eligible cases.

Who pays for family mediation?
